When Vicky got her first job she promised herself that she would get two things – a convertible and a German Shepherd Dog and she did just that ! Years of watching Rin Tin Tin convinced Vicky that a German Shepherd Dog was the only breed for her and she has owned German Shepherd Dogs for about 45 years. She did not show her first dog, but began subscribing to the AKC Gazette where she learned about obedience trials. Vicky attended several obedience trials as a spectator and vowed that her next Shepherd would be an obedience dog. Since then Vicky has titled her Shepherds in agility, obedience, tracking, herding and rally.
Vicky became interested in judging when she titled her first UD Shepherd. Vicky has been an Obedience judge for over 25 years and a Rally judge since the program began. Vicky loves judging and have met many wonderful people and been to many places during her career. She especially enjoys working with new exhibitors which she hopes helps them on their way to a long career in obedience. Vicky has judged obedience at many Nationals, such as 1997 and 2006 German Shepherd DCA, 2000 and 2009 Vizsla Club of America, 2002 Bull Terrier Club of America, 2003 and 2010 American Spaniel Club, 2006 French Bulldog Club of America, 2009 National Beagle Club, 2009 Doberman Pinscher Club of America, 2009 Pug Dog Club of America, 2011 Havanese Club of America, and 2016 American Chinese Crested Club as well as many regional specialties. In addition to judging, Vicky is a Canine Ambassador for the AKC and gives programs for children on how to be safe around dogs. Vicky is a retired educator originally from New Jersey, moving to North Carolina in 2002 so she could have property for her dogs, and currently lives with several GSDs and a Cairn Terrier. |
